Pet Portraits

Commission a custom charcoal pet portrait to capture the spirit of your animal in elegant detail.

Looking for the ultimate gift for a pet parent?

A charcoal pet portrait is the perfect one-of-a-kind keepsake.

Charcoal is a classic fine art medium, cherished for its versatility and ability to create expressive works with depth. The medium has been well-used by legendary figures throughout history, including the likes of Leonardo da Vinci and Pablo Picasso.
Page size and orientation

We currently offer charcoal pet portraits in standard A2, A3, and A4 page sizes.

Once you have decided on a size, you have a choice as to whether you would like the artwork to be created with a vertical or horizontal page orientation. A vertical orientation is the standard format for a portrait, whereby the height of the page exceeds the width. A horizontal orientation is the standard format for a landscape, whereby the width of the page exceeds the height.
Margin border

The artist allows for a slight white border to frame the piece away from the edge of the page. This space is referred to as white space or breathing room, although it is more commonly known as a page margin.

You can choose whether you would like this border to have either a clean, straight edge or a more raw, expressive feel to it. The straight edge is achieved by using a special artist masking tape. The expressive border is created without that tape and has a more organic shape to it, as shown in the example image.
